The city is partnering with the Virginia Port Authority, which is deepening the channel used by container ships bound for the Norfolk Harbor. Great Lakes Dredge & Dry Dock, which replenished the Oceanfront beach three years ago, will pump “beach quality sand” dredged from the channel onto Ocean Park beach.

‘We’re getting close’: Virginia Beach City Council defers vote on new short-term rental rules
According to police, witnesses saw the driver accused of hitting the man, 20-year-old Reece Christian Sheppard from Virginia Beach, standing close by in the crowd surrounding the crash.
The case remains under the investigation by investigators assigned to the VBPD Fatal Crash Team.
Another proposal would allow short-term rentals only in certain parts of the city.
