Re: BEAR STORY and other recent reports from the bay beaches: Listen up media outlets. And anyone else who doesn’t understand what and where Chick’s Beach is. And isn’t. It started out as a small strip of sand where a guy named Chick, or Chic, ran a nice little ice cream stand in the the 1960’s. It gradually grew to include a few blocks of nearby streets between the Bridge-Tunnel and the Amphib Base. It did not include all of Chesapeake Beach or any of Ocean Park. And it most certainly never included anything east of the Lynnhaven Inlet. Still doesn’t. All of us on the Bay have our own pride of place. Let’s keep it that way. Or at least let’s not allow empty-headed, come-here anchors and reporters to make it seem as though all of our neighborhoods were originally settled by a guy who came ashore with a supply of cones, ice cream and sprinkles. What’s next, First Landing State Park, Chick’s Beach, VA, 23451?
GREAT to know wildlife still abounds, in the balance of nature, in spite of the perceived negative effects of man…. YEAH!! just a little guy…. wonder where mom is?
