Planning Commission Meeting - R-5R Amendment to be discussed

The following ordinance change below, received from the City’s zoning department, is scheduled for review as Item # 5 at the January 12th Planning Commission Meeting. 

Ocean Park, Chesapeake Beach, Cape Story and the North End currently have lots zoned as R5R.  The change is summarized at the end of this ordinance modification write-up.  The Planning Commission meets at 12:00pm in the City Council chambers.

SDCC GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING - October Minutes

Minutes:
President Todd Solomon called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM.  Thirty-two members and guests were present.

The main event for this meeting was a presentation on Point Chesapeake, the development that is proposed to replace the Duck-In Restaurant and Beach Club.

SDAC Special Work Session Scheduled

A special work session of the Shore Drive Advisory Committee has been scheduled for 3 p.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2004.  The meeting will be held in the Planning Department?s Conference Room, Room 115, Bldg. 2 at 2405 Courthouse Drive at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center. More info.

SDCC General Meeting Monday October 25

This month’s general meeting program topic will be a presentation on the proposed development planned to replace the Duck-In restaurant. 

A representative of the site developer, Terry Peterson Residential Realty, will be present to discuss the current plans for the property.

A brown, medium sized dog (35 pounds) wandered into the Brass yard on Indian Hill.
The Brass’ are keeping him until claimed.

$1million possibly budgeted for Lesner Bridge improvements

At the SDAC workshop on September 30th at the Penthouse Room at Westminster Canterbury it was mentioned that the city may be budgeting $1million for Lesner Bridge improvements.

Is that for a process to work toward a 6-lane bridge?
Is it part of a plan to add a pedestrian and bike path to the existing bridge?
Is it part of a plan to renovate the existing bridge?

Give yourselves a big round of applause.  This years Oyster Roast and Hobie Fleet 32 race was a smashing success.  The event drew the largest attendance ever in its four year history.  A total of 437 people attended (393 adults, 23 children and 26 students).  This large number was not achieved by chance.  It was a direct result of hard work by a dedicated group of volunteers.

SDCC/Starbucks Clean-Up on Saturday Sept 25th

What’s being dredged in the Lynnhaven Inlet

The shipwreck is on the western edge of Lynnhaven Inlet, roughly 2,300 feet north of the Lesner Bridge. The channel makes a sharp turn to avoid it, creating sandy shoals and a hazard for boats.

Police seek man who shot bicyclist at N. Great Neck Rd

The man, identified as Carson Simpson, 49, of Virginia Beach, was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, Rimer said. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
