VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) — In a surprise announcement, Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms announced he would resign from his position and take a job in the private sector.
Sessoms said his last day as mayor would be April 30. He did not specify what his new job would be.
Vice Mayor Louis Jones will take over as interim mayor beginning May 1. A special election for a new mayor will then be held on November 6.
