Shore Drive Advisory Committee Meeting Scheduled

The next meeting of the Shore Drive Advisory Committee has been scheduled for December 11, 2003.  The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Bayside Community Recreation Center.

Shore Drive Right of Way reduced from 150 to 100 feet East of N. Great Neck

At tonight’s Council meeting, the 150 foot Right of Way (ROW) along Shore Drive from North Great Neck Road to Kendall Street was reduced to 100 foot.  Councilman Jim Wood made the motion to amend the City’s Master Transportation / Comprehensive Plan to reduce this ROW requirement to 100 feet.  The motion passed with a vote of 9 to 1.

Congress Approving Funding for Virginia Beach

Additional funding approved for Virginia Beach!
Since the Shore Drive area easily provides the highest residential tax base per acre versus any where else in the entire city, we should get at least more than our fair share of this funding.

Updated Design for Dinwiddie/Dupont Condo’s

Below is the City Planning Staff’s write-up for the updated design for the proposed Dupont/Dinwiddie project.  This plan is recommended for approval by the City Planning Department with the conditions listed below.  Please attend the SDCC general meeting on Monday to help discuss a position on this modified proposal.

“Virginia Beach is ready to spend $5 million to preserve most of the Williams farm.”

Beach officials identified the Williams parcel as a strong candidate for preservation long before there was money or a program with which to buy it.

“It’s phenomenal,” said Barry Frankenfield, design development administrator for the city’s parks department. “Talk about a strategic piece of property.”
