A new telephone hotline has been established by the Department of Public Works to disseminate information on West Nile virus.
Citizens can call the West Nile virus hotline at 563-1590 to hear information about the virus and its current activity in Virginia Beach.
The Shore Drive Advisory Committee will meet Thursday, May 13 at 3:30 p.m. but not at the usual location. This meeting will be in Room 204 of the Hampton Roads Agricultural Research and Extension Center at 1444 Diamond Springs Road.
If anyone is free on Thursday May 13th, this may be a good opportunity to gather information and voice your opinion regarding the bike trail improvements along Shore Drive on both sides of the Lesner Bridge. As you all are aware, the last survey performed regarding bike paths and usage showed the Shore Drive trail as the most important in the City by a factor of 2 to 1 over the next highest rated trail.
It would also be a good time to bring up the possibility of adding/hanging a multipurpose path extension on the Lesner bridge.
This meeting is slightly different from the Planning Commission meeting on May 10th and should be a better chance to have our opinions heard.

The engineering plans for the improvements to Shore Drive between Treasure Island Road and Marlin Bay Drive (in the area of the Taste Unlimited) have passed the 60% design phase and are being finalized.
This project will be the topic at the next Baylake Pines Civic League meeting, open to the public.
Hionis ruled out rumors that the property might be razed and converted into luxury condos.
?The place is absolutely going to be renovated and changed,? he said, but ?I?m not going to do condos. That?s for sure.?
