Free bus service
Boomerang is free bus service from the Va Beach ocean front to a couple spots in Williamsburg and back again.
Check it out.
I spoke with several restaurateurs in the past about setting up a free shuttle between participating restaurants on Shore Drive and the several I spoke with were interested in doing it.

Shore Drive Vision - Meeting #1
Dear Shore Drive Community Representatives,
On June 28th, City Council will vote on a proposed Used Car Lot at the corner of North Hampton and Shore Drive (the old Texaco station). A 6 to 5 vote is all that is needed to deny or approve this application. Many of you have expressed your concerns that this type of development is not right for the character of Shore Drive. In an effort to better define what the community would like to see along Shore Drive and in the Bayfront area, a series of Focus meetings will be held to establish a comprehensive Vision for our community.
“Sweet Good Fortune” almost completed
When completed, months of editing, music and other effects will be added to “Sweet Good Fortune,” a full-length movie written by Frank Shield of Virginia Beach.

Hope to see you there.

Birding from the CBBT remains possible
Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel commissioners approved a compromise today keeping islands along the 20-mile span open to birding while maintaining tighter post-Sept. 11 security measures.
The new rules will require birders to arrange their visits in advance, provide photo identification and be subject to security checks.

Birdwatching info at the CBBT website.
The sunsets and sunrises from the islands are gorgeous too!

An inspiring post from Brad:
Just FYI because the Council Meeting of June 28 will be here before we know it…
The used car lot application (Shore Drive at Northampton – vacant Texaco Station) is still scheduled to be heard for final approval at the City Council meeting on June 28…
Parking legally in the summer time
Well, actually parking legally any time.
You’ve undoubtedly noticed a significant increase in traffic and parking in our area recently – thanks to summer finally getting here!
Whether it’s the crazy parking nearby the Duck-In Friday Nite Beach Party, or on the street in front of Croakers Restaurant, or in Chicks Beach near the beach – please park legally.
Parking legally, especially close to Shore Drive just could save a life.
Please read on for parking restrictions.
Notes from SDAC meeting on May 12, 2005(Mike)
The SDAC was pleased to report that our representatives on council were successful in having funds appropriated ($500,000+) into the CIP budget for the design of Phase II of the Shore Dr. Demonstration Project. Clay Bernick also noted that there were currently over $20 million in CIP projects in various stages along the Shore Dr. corridor in process.

Requested but Unfunded proposal to widen Shore Drive to 6-lanes is dead for now
Remember this quote from this earlier article?
“Elminating CIP #2-857, to widen Shore Drive, would be a symbolic jesture from the City to build trust in the community that the intention is not to widen Shore Drive.”
It’s been done by Councilman Jim Wood!
