Update on new shops on the way

According to Tommy Drew of Advantis GVA, only 2 of the 9 retail spaces are not rented at the new Kroger Shops… which is located between Krogers and Hollywood Video.

Howard Johnson’s on Shore Drive held up last night

Virginia Beach police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects wanted in connection with a hotel robbery of the Howard Johnson’s on Shore Drive early Friday morning.

R-5R Draft proposal changes to ordinance

This is interesting.

The hearing on proposed changes to R-5R zoning was recently scheduled to be heard at the July Planning Commission meeting, then rescheduled to the August meeting.

The draft of the proposed changes will possibly not be ready for the public to view until at least next week.

State building code places no restrictions on hours of construction

Although I’m not aware of any construction getting started at 4:30am around the Bayfront area, this article in the PilotOnline.com points out some interesting construction related info.

Planning Commission Hearing on R5R changes deferred until August

The R5R agenda item mentioned earlier this week has been postponed again according to Steve White, the Planning Commissions city staff liason.

Rite Aid Robbed June 12th

The Rite Aid Pharmacy in the Cape Henry Plaza was robbed on June 12 and a chase ensued on the bike path for 2 young males.  During the course of the robbery, the manager was assaulted.

There is a proposed Ordinance to amend Section 502 of the City Zoning Ordinance pertaining to Dimensional Requirements for Duplexes in the R-5R Residential Resort District – Item 15 on the Planning Commission’s July 13th agenda[.PDF file].

Current Info about sand replenishment, east of the Lesner Bridge

BSRTF is the Beach Sand Replenishment Task Force which is a group of Shore Drive area residents (under the SDCC umbrella) working with a group of City representatives to establish a beach sand nourishment project for the Cape Henry Beach.

Chicks Oyster Bar expansion rumor dead for now

I am extremely concerned over the strong rumor that the ownership of Chicks
Oyster Bar is planning to develop the property next to them that currently
is home to the Lynnhaven Fish company into a Duck Inn style bar….  As it
stands today without any additions, Friday nights and a good portion of the
rest of the weekend are haven to the heavy drinking crowd and a real pain to
