The shoreline and grasses were teaming with life ? turtles, fish, and amazing water birds were everywhere! Many of the birds were nesting and you could see their young in the nests. The air was filled with the song of so many different birds. At one point we were not more than 100 yards from Shore Drive but the “wilderness” of the space was so amazing we could have been miles away.

A. Yes. A permanent sheet pile structure would be installed to allow other neighborhoods to use this site for dredge spoils transfer.

A lot has happened since Indigo Dunes was intially presented in May 06.
If you’re reading this, you undoubtedly know of the enormous opposition that has been growing since those early presentations.
Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation estimates that an average of 70 boats pass through the channel each day, with heavier traffic on weekends, in the summer and during Striper fishing season from October until February.

The Virginia Beach Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, Consumer Affairs Program has received several calls from victims who have given out bank account numbers, credit card numbers, and other personal information to callers and door to door solicitors claiming their subscriptions to magazines or other services are due to expire. When the consumers contacted the magazine or service provider directly, they discovered they had been scammed.

It’s official that the City of Virginia Beach has begun the appeal process of the recent VMRC decision re: Indigo Dunes.
Next step in the process is the City filing their petition to the Circuit Court explaining why they are appealing. That will happen prior to September 21st.
Mark your calendar for our September Public Meeting, 8:00 AM at Dockside Inn on Thursday, September 6th. Bill Johnston, City of Virginia Beach Public Works, will give us an update on recent and upcoming city stormwater improvements and our Volunteer of the Year for 2007 will be awarded.
The planned BAC Design Subcommittee Meeting scheduled for September has been canceled.
The next subcommittee meeting will be held on October 16 at 8:00 AM at a place to be determined.
On Friday September 7, 2007 The National Association of State Park Directors will be meeting from September 4-7 in Williamsburg for their annual conference.
On September 7th, the conference participants will be our guest at First Landing State Park from 9:30-3:00 p.m.

Elizabeth, an aide to a Councilman in Alexandria Va, forwarded the following info about tightening up the law so it’s clearer for both pedestrians & drivers alike. [Note: This will not affect Shore Drive.]
The law that needs fine tuning is about pedestrian crosswalks on streets with the speed limit of 25mph or lower. Currently, it is somewhat confusing as drivers are to yield to pedestrians in cross walks.
The recommended changes will help make the law clearer.
