On Wednesday, August 2, 2006, in response to numerous traffic crashes caused by drivers following too closely in the area of First Colonial Rd. and Laskin Rd., the Virginia Beach Police Department?s Second Precinct, has begun notification of enforcement of the ?Following Too Close? traffic ordinance.

Rash of vehicle break-ins in Cape Story
In about the last week, there has been a rash of vehicle break-ins in Cape Story.

How dry it is or FIRE!
Anecdotal evidence as to how dry it is and the danger of ‘unsupervised’ fireworks.
Someone just now threw a firework in a yard across the street and the grass immediately caught fire and flames rose to about 2-3ft in height and 5ft square and was ‘catching’ rapidly.
We’re thankful we saw it and were able to put it out.
Its dry and hot. Please don’t allow anyone to do something so stupid on your street.
Private meeting on August 10th at PHP not open to the public
There was an item mentioned in this past week’s SDCC meeting agenda that there’s a meeting at PHP with various regulatory agencies and reps from Indigo Dunes.
It’s confirmed the meeting is closed to the public.

A $1.6 million dredging project completed this month has realigned the navigation channel, giving boaters a straight shot through the inlet for the first time in about a decade.

SDCC General Meeting Monday July 31 2006 Agenda
Shore Drive Community Coalition (SDCC)- General Meeting, Monday July 31, 2006, 7:30pm to 9:00pm, Ocean Park Fire & Rescue Hall.
This month we will have a brief presentation made by representatives from the Virginia Beach Resort Conference Center regarding their upcoming conditional use permit (CUP) to have outdoor entertainment on their deck. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.
SDAC annual workshop postponed until September
The next meeting of the Shore Drive Advisory Committee, which was tentatively scheduled as the Committee?s annual workshop to be held on Thursday, August 24, has been cancelled. The annual workshop meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 7, at Baylake United Methodist Church, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
