Travel back 400 years in time to witness the arrival of the first permanent English settlers to our shores.  VBTV presents a special live cablecast of the re-creation of the First Landing on Thursday, April 26, starting at 9:00 a.m. Originating from First Landing State Park, the live coverage is the result of a partnership between VBTV and WTKR News Channel 3.  The live ceremony will be shown on VBTV Channel 47.

We’ve finally scheduled our next clean up of the east side of Shore Drive with our Adopt-A-Highway partner Starbucks.

Saturday morning, May 5th. Hope to see ya there…it only takes a couple hours, you’ll get some goodies from Starbucks as a thank you and you’ll meet the coolest of your neighbors.

It?s looking to be a gorgeous Saturday afternoon (currently projects are for a high of 66 degrees and mostly sunny) and we still have tickets available for our Oyster Roast on Saturday afternoon.  It?s not too late to get tickets.

The Oyster Roast is being held under a huge tent on the lovely property of Bob and Eleanor Stanton, on First Court Rd. in Virginia Beach.  We will be service aqua-cultured, grilled Lynnhaven Oysters, oyster stew, barbecue, sides, and beverages (wine, beer, soda, water).  The fantastic bluegrass band which played at last year?s Oyster Roast, ?More Perfect Jones? is returning again this year after rave reviews last year.

Those guys surveying around Jimmy’s and the other side of the bridge….are surveying for the new bridge.

The City of Virginia Beach is performing a study to replace the Lesner Bridge over the Lynnhaven Inlet. This questionnaire is the first step in obtaining public input and provides an opportunity to seek thoughts and ideas about the replacement of the Lesner Bridge. We request that you take a little time to complete this questionnaire so we can learn about your views and suggestions at this very early stage of the study, before work actually begins on the design of the project.

First Landing State Park wants everyone to be aware that they have started selling tickets to their VB2007 events on April 26 and April 27.

This is very strange… A couple minutes ago, on the south side of Shore Drive inbetween Marlin Bay & First Court, there was a blinding dust storm being blown from the south side to the north side that took visibility to about -0- on the east bound side.

According to CBF’s Blog, if you bring your Starbucks tumbler to any company owned store, like ours on Shore Drive, Starbucks will donate 10 cents from the purchase price. The offer runs from April 3 to May 14, 2007.

Virginia Beach traffic engineers don’t agree. They say the addition 10 years ago of rumble strips alongside the travel lanes has greatly reduced run-off-the-road accidents.
