A piece of cherished open space on Pleasure House Lake will be protected from development after the City Council voted Tuesday to buy the land. The measure allows the city to purchase the land either by agreement or condemnation.
City Council Votes tonight to acquire property in Chicks Beach
If the council approves today?s measure, and a purchase agreement can?t be reached, it would be the first time the city has condemned property under its open space program, Jones said.

500 750 Live Oak Saplings Collected so far!
Thanks to all who showed up on a blustery Monday morning to help collect around 500 750 saplings. The goal for the event was 600, so the The collection has been extended to Tuesday.
