The 396th Harbormaster Detachment (396thDet.) from Ft.Story is scheduled to return from one year deployment in IRAQ..this Sat…Nov 4th..coming from Ft. Dix onto Shore Drive from Rt.13 at about 12 noon to 2:00 1pm…times will change of course.
I have already contacted all the business to put up signs..etc & will deliver homemade signs along the route tomorrow. I have coordinated with police/fire depts & they will escort them along the route. There will be one bus plus other army vehicles. Shore Drive Community Coalition (SDCC)- General Meeting on Monday October 30, 2006 at 7:30pm to 9:00pm in Ocean Park Fire & Rescue Hall.
This month?s topic will be ?What is the role of the SDCC and how can it help the SDAC ?? Kal Kassir, SDAC chairman and Scott Ayers, SDAC member will be present to discuss comments from their Shore Drive Advisory Committee retreat. They would like to focus on how the SDCC can help with obtaining grants and other possible ways we may be able to support them.
Ten speakers from Skip Stiles of Wetlands Watch to Laurie Sorabella of Oyster Reef Keepers of Virginia to of course Karen Forget of LR2007.
Topics included are valuable to anyone who lives in the Lynnhaven River watershed or are interested in learning about the exciting new research & efforts underway to clean our river.

If your property borders any body of water, the most important thing that you can do to improve water quality in that lake or stream and the river is to convert a part of your lawn to a buffer garden.
Join us Saturday morning November 18th to help pick up litter and hang out with some very cool people from 9am to about noon.
First 20 or so volunteers receive Starbucks gift certificates.
We provide the fancy orange vests, bags and those fancy pointy sticks.
We suggest supplying your own gloves.
Meet at Starbucks before 9am to meet everyone and get instructions.
As you can imagine, you’ll be meeting the coolest of the coolest of Shore Drive people.
