Event houses: A sweet getaway?
Or a neighborhood nightmare? Fixing the 2.
City staff is wrestling with the complicated issue of “event houses.” They are dwellings that are rented out for short-term destination events like weddings and reunions.
Karen Lasley, city zoning administrator, and William Macali, assistant city attorney, have been making presentations and gathering comments and suggestions about if and how to regulate these properties in a way that preserves the residential nature of waterfront communities as well as the rights of property owners to entertain on their lands.
Their latest presentation was at the Bayfront Advisory Commission. . .
