Subject: Ocean Park South Drainage Improvements

Mr. Kassir, Mr. Thomas, Mr. Vaughn and Honorable Mayor Jones,

This is to advise you that Public Works is proceeding with the design and construction of Alternative A for the Ocean Park – South Drainage Improvements. After holding a Public Information Meeting on 23 FEB 2012, we received 8 comment sheets from citizens who are in favor of Alternative A (attached) and 2 comment sheets from citizens who are in favor of Alternative C. The Public Meeting Handout package is attached for reference. On 28 FEB 2012 the Ocean Park Civic League Executive Committee passed a resolution to support Alternative A (Also known as Alternative One). Therefore, we are proceeding with the design and construction of Alternative A. We anticipate construction to be completed by May 31, 2013.

Thank you,

Michael S. Bumbaco, PE

  1. I am a resident of North Beach Residences/Condos, Shore Dr & Westsail Lane, across the street from Kroger. Sept 28, 2011 almost all of our community was flooded out due to heavy rains that night. Many residences suffered tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage. We are getting the run around from the city as to the cause of the failure to drain properly. We are looking in to our storm drain system as we are considered private property, but have not found cause on our end. I see that the city workers are maintaining the storm drain ditch across Shore Dr. in front of Advance Auto, but the ditch on our side of the street appears to be collapsing and is not as well maintained, if at all. We had a bit of rain the first week in June and 10 inches of water backed up in to our community again, almost instilling another panic for our residences. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do? Thank you.
