No Indigo Dunes petition drive on Election Day, Tues Nov 7th

Dear Shore Drive Residents,

The No Indigo Dunes Petition Committee is looking for volunteers to spend an hour or two at one of the 3 Bayfront polling locations on Tuesday Nov. 7th. gathering signatures.

The polling locations are:

1) Lynnhaven Colony Congregational Church at 2217 W Great Neck Rd Virginia Beach, VA 23451
2) Grace Bible Church at 2961 Shore Drive Virginia Beach, VA 23451
3) Bayside Recreation Center at 4500 First Court Rd Virginia Beach, VA 23455

Traditionally, the most active times at the polls are 7-9am,  11am-1pm, and 5-7pm.  Just remember to stay behind the 40 foot boundary that is set up by the poll workers and there won’t be any issues.

To help settle the mounting debts of the Civil War, the commonwealth in 1868 sold off “the desert tract,” the elbow of land where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. Didn’t know that did you?

Condo Associations, Civic Leagues, the City plus SDCC helping to moderate the discussions have been trying to work out an agreement to replenish the beaches on the east side of the Lesner Bridge.

396th from Ft Story returning tomorrow, Saturday, Nov.4th about 1pm

The 396th Harbormaster Detachment (396thDet.) from Ft.Story is scheduled to return from one year deployment in IRAQ..this Sat…Nov 4th..coming from Ft. Dix onto Shore Drive from Rt.13 at about 12 noon to 2:00 1pm…times will change of course.

I have already contacted all the business to put up signs..etc & will deliver homemade signs along the route tomorrow. I have coordinated with police/fire depts & they will escort them along the route. There will be one bus plus other army vehicles. The future health of the Chesapeake Bay is included as one of the important estuaries that could be negatively affected. The study included work from J. Emmett Duffy, an ecologist and head of biological sciences at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science in Gloucester County.

The Design Subcommittee of the Shore Drive Advisory Committee will meet at 8 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Great Neck Community Recreation Center….meeting will be open for the public to observe; however, there will not be an opportunity for the public to participate.
