Indigo Dunes submits changes to their plan

We recently asked the City for the new changes to the proposed Indigo Dunes.
Here’s an overview of the changes & initial comments from the City. [5pg PDF]

We’ll be posting more details when we can as the first hearing is less than a month away & that does not give the public a lot of time to review the documents.

Debate on Indigo Dunes picked up by CBF blog

Engineers for the developer make the claim that the existing wetlands and canals were manmade and therefore not worthy of protection under the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act. Not only doesn’t this follow the logic or letter of the law and regulations, a look at aerial photographs (going back to 1937) clearly show the proposed development is on a point of land that has historically been wetlands.

Held at Ocean Park Fire & Rescue Hall.

This month’s main topic of discussion will be Indigo Dunes.  In an effort to
bring everyone up to date with events and information that has taken place
since our November meeting, we will talk about the recent changes to the
project, past deferrals and what do they mean, plans and actions for the
upcoming Monday February 19th Wetlands Board Hearing on the Indigo Dunes
Project.

The Price of Progress from the Portfolio Weekly

Joel Rubin, a hired spokesman, told me they asked him to speak with me.
“They?re media shy,” he said.
He also said the list on the Coalition?s site sounds correct.
Mr. Rubin was talking about the Coalition?s concerns about the development sourced from this link at SDCC.info.

VDOT adds wider pavement markings to make highways safer

With a nod to the failing eyesight of aging drivers, state officials hope new typefaces on signs and broader highway markings will help make driving a little easier….The idea is that with improved signs and wider pavement markings, the traveling experience will be safer, especially for drivers whose eyesight is not as keen as it once was.

About $6M approved at City Council Meeting for the Bayfront

City Council tonight approved roughly $6M for site acquisition for the new Chicks Beach Fire Company plus long overdue, much needed Shore Drive infrastructure safety improvements.

This was about 100% of what our Vice Mayor Jones, Councilman Wood & other Councilpersons recommended using a portion of the ‘extra’ funds from FY2006.

Thank you!
