Too much of good thing is bad for Ocean View - Published in the Virginian Pilot on Sept 4th

How is this editorial about Ocean View related to the Shore Drive Community?

Please read on:

Remember, the council is neither changing density nor prohibiting demolitions—only regulating design. Councilman W. Randy Wright said, “This is not an anti-density campaign; it’s a quality campaign.’’

One might argue that the market, not government officials, should determine the best designs. But a trip down Shore Drive in Virginia Beach is all the evidence one needs to make a case for better municipal oversight.

One small step for Dinwiddie, One MASSIVE step for Shore Drive!!!

Did you ever doubt that the massive project approved by City Council on August 12th Council would be used as a basis for future Shore Drive developments. Well here’s proof that what Council, the Planning Commission and the BZA approve one week will be used as justification for new projects.  Check out this recent letter regarding the Dinwiddie project (Ft. Worth Letter from Eddie Bourdon dated 8.22.03).

Will Council Vote to Reconsider?

One Vision, One Voice, One Community,

As you may know, on August 12th City Council voted 6-5 in favor of the 7 story 27-unit condominium project on the property located between Dinwiddie and Dupont Circle just east of Don Julio’s restaurant.  To most this would seem like the end, however, that is not true.  It’s only over if we let it be.
