The following is a story emailed to Todd about how their home was broken into.

According to today’s Virginian-Pilot, Steven Bishard, President of the development company, signed an agreement in September with the EPA and paid a fine of $9.700.

…contractors hired by Bishard Development did not follow anti-pollution plans for keeping dirt, mud, oil and debris from washing off the site and tainting a small creek feeding Linkhorn Bay.

A 37-year-old man was killed this morning after he was ejected from his sport utility vehicle while traveling on Shore Drive.

Reduce speed limits on Shore Drive to 35 (cars will do 45, but not 55 as they do now).

Sunday’s Virginian-Pilot had an article explaining about the city’s “Demonstration Project” and how it will improve the safety of Shore Drive for it’s pedestrians and drivers.

The Demonstration Project mentioned in the article is scheduled, by City estimates, to take about 10-15 years from 2006.

?You can?t walk,? said Allan Segal, a 29-year resident at Seagate Colony Condominiums, at 2830 Shore Drive. ?It?s more than a challenge. It?s life-threatening.?

It?s a fact: The more condos that spring up on Shore Drive within walking distance of bars and restaurants, the more pedestrians will cross the busy road.

The city approved Shore Drive?s mixed-use zoning cocktail. It now has a duty to make that arrangement as safe as possible for citizens.

In case you missed it, VDOT had an online forum today from 2-4pm.

The Lynnhaven River in Virginia Beach was supposed to be the target of corps action this year, with construction of artificial reefs and baby oysters sprinkled atop them. But disputes and delays surfaced, and the million-dollar effort was put on hold, without public disclosure of what had happened or what is planned.

FYI, a reliable source tells us the owners of Chick’s are purchasing the large lot next door, and plan to build a “5 bars under 1 roof” concept.  Map.

1.    Susan Karlau distributed Oyster Roast tickets and reviewed sales criteria with the members prior to the meeting.

2.    President Todd Solomon called the meeting to order at 7:45 PM.  Nineteen members and guests were present.

According to WAVY TV 10 the Va Beach Police arrested the alledged scumbag who killed 2 people early Saturday morning in a hit and run accident on Shore Drive.

A teenager drowned Monday evening while swimming at Lake Joyce in the Baylake Pines neighborhood, rescue officials said. More at WAVY.com.

The Shore Drive Community Coalition is getting ready to put on our Annual Oyster Roast party at the 67th Street Beach Club on Sunday, October 2nd, 2005.

We are asking local merchants to sponsor this event. We usually have about 350 residents attend.

This is a great way to give back to the community that supports your business and a wonderful way to advertise.

Dick Brothers, a resident of Cape Story and this years Director of the Neptune Festival 8K Run, is in need of some volunteers to help hand out cups of water during the race.

An amazing collection of images from NOAA made by a NOAA Cessna Citation aircraft [that] flew two to three missions each day only stopping to re-fuel. 

The demand for the aerial images has been astounding. From Sept. 1 – 7, about five million photos were downloaded each day resulting in more than 27 terrabytes of data being delivered to meet the intense public interest.
