City Council votes unanimously to set a precedent!

Vice Mayor Jones made a motion to deny Ocean Properties request for upzoning, a conditional use permit and street closure to build 77 condos next to Wawa.

City Council voted unanimously for safety and denied all the applications.

Death sign comes down

Today, the death sign located on the west side of the Northampton Blvd. overpass came down about 1:30pm.

No word yet on what will replace it. It was recommended in the SDSTF Report that it should be a sign more reflecting the fact that Shore Drive is a multi-modal road, shared by vehicles, cyclists, & pedestrians.

L.M. Sandler & Sons and Lynnhaven River 2007 miscommunication

At the new proposed Indigo Dunes website, on the Environmental Stewardship page, it mentions a Lynnhaven River 2007 Partnership.

Apparently the word Partnership is up for interpretation.

On Tuesday June 13th at 6:00pm in the City Council Chambers, the City Council will review the following request for rezoning and multifamily dwelling project along Shore Drive.  This proposed development may seem like your typical run of the mill high density development along Shore Drive, but it’s not.

City Council approves all SDSTF recommendations!

“I think the council is committed to getting the improvements done,” said Vice Mayor Louis Jones.

Now it’s up to you to contact City Council to encourage them to completely Fund the recommendations now!

The Ocean Properties proposal to rezone the Shore Drive and North Oliver parcel from single family to B-4 for 77 units will be voted on by city council on Tuesday, June 13th.

You may also remember the proposed Point Chesapeake project.

Today, according to their website, the proposed project is still planned as a “village-style community. Now though, their plan is 4 10-story high rise buildings.

City Council voting tonight on Shore Drive Safety Task Force Recommendations

According to tonight’s agenda:
Resolution to AUTHORIZE and DIRECT the City Manager to implement recommendations of the Shore Drive Safety Task Force.

This vote will start SDCC’s new database of votes taken by City Council that affect the safety of Bayfront residents.

City officials say you can’t compare the projects. Money for the resort sidewalks will come from a special tax fund designated for tourism only. The dough for the Shore Drive improvements – about $26 million – must come from other sources.

Indigo Dunes at Pleasure House Point

…300 apartments, 121 detached homes, 528 condominiums and 147 town houses. The homes would feature balconies, dormers and gables in pastels and earth tones. They would range in size from about 1,000 to 4,000 square feet. The developer does not yet have prices for the homes.

Driver who killed 2 pedestrians pleads guilty

The man who did not stop after his car struck and killed two pedestrians on Shore Drive last year pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license.

At a small number of private meetings, Sandler’s are presenting their plans for Pleasure House Point.

Currently, plans are expected to be presented to the public within a matter of weeks.
