GENERAL DISCUSSION

Indigo Dunes – Officers met with Sandler/some of project team. They’ve also held meetings with Baylake Pines & Ocean Park.

SDCC General Meeting Monday July 31 2006 Agenda

Shore Drive Community Coalition (SDCC)- General Meeting, Monday July 31, 2006, 7:30pm to 9:00pm, Ocean Park Fire & Rescue Hall.

This month we will have a brief presentation made by representatives from the Virginia Beach Resort Conference Center regarding their upcoming conditional use permit (CUP) to have outdoor entertainment on their deck.  The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.

SDAC annual workshop postponed until September

The next meeting of the Shore Drive Advisory Committee, which was tentatively scheduled as the Committee?s annual workshop to be held on Thursday, August 24, has been cancelled.  The annual workshop meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 7, at Baylake United Methodist Church, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Evening presentation of proposed Indigo Dunes

On August 17th at 6:30 PM, Sandler is hosting a public information fair on Indigo Dunes.

The event will be held at Cox High School and will give citizens the opportunity to speak directly with members of the planning teams for the proposed development.

VDOT approves new interchange on 64 with some caveats

CBN’s planned development which needs a new interchange on 64, as mentioned yesterday, had the interchange approved by VDOT.

Observations/Notes from SDAC meeting on 7/13/06

SDAC held brief general meeting prior to 2 presentations.  Items to note during general meeting:

  * Clay Bernick mentioned that there is still no approved funding for the Safety Task Force reccommended improvements.
  * City Staff asked for $1 million but no dedicated funding stream has been identified.

According to the article, a “community development authority” would need to be created to take out about $85M in bonds to pay for necessary public improvements.

Money mag says Va Beach is 6th best place to live

Virginia Beach was named Number Six among the Best Big Cities and Arlington topped the Best Educated Cities.

Va Beach orphaned/injured ducklings & goslings need your help!

Here’s the deal:  All of the Va Beach wildlife rehabbers have to get a STATE PERMIT allowing them to rehabilitate injured and orphaned wildlife.  But, if a neighbor gripes, the person then applies for a CITY PERMIT that allows them to have a wildlife refuge on their property.
